FEATURED UPDATES

GRADES K-5 WILL BE JOINING THE CONGREGATION FOR WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY MAY 29TH

Parents,

Please only check-in your nursery and preschool aged children this Sunday and have your elementary school kids attend service with you.

Worship bags with activities that coincide with this Sunday’s message will be provided.

This change is due to lower church attendance in the summer because of vacationing. Therefore, adjustments to the summer schedule for our elementary aged kids have been decided. Read more about the summer worship schedule for our elementary students in the City on a Hill Kids newsletter link.

SUPPORT OUR NORTH PARK UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP FUND!

This Sunday, we will have an opportunity to hear from members of our congregation whose lives and faith have been impacted by North Park University, our denomination's college and seminary.  Located in the vibrant Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago, North Park has been preparing Covenanters and other students "for lives of significance and service" since 1891.  GEECC has benefitted directly -- Leslie, Pastor Jeff, Eliza, and many others in our congregation have studied there!

Our "love offering" this month supports our North Park Scholarship Fund, which will be matched by North Park to help the next generation of GEECCers attend North Park.  To make a contribution, memo your check to "Love Offering" or "North Park Scholarship", or give online on our website and select "Give to North Park Scholarship Fund".

PENTECOST SUNDAY – JUNE 5TH

We invite you to wear red for worship on Pentecost Sunday.  This is a tradition that is an outward sign of the inward transformation by the Holy Spirit in each of our hearts.

As ‘tongues of fire’ came to rest on Jesus’ disciples on that first Pentecost long ago, we gather to then go out into the world with the continuing blazing fire that is the hope of God in Jesus Christ, and by the power of His Spirit.

We are a church called to “Go!” Let’s love on our community this summer. We will have a sign up sheet in the atrium. We are looking for people to run games, serve ice cream, and volunteer to meet and greet our community members, pray for them and invite them to to join us for church on Sunday.

Questions and ideas are welcomed! Contact Crystal at crystal.white@gecovenant.org.

BOOK CLUB

The book club is continuing to read Subversive Witness by Dominique DuBois Gilliard, the director of racial righteousness and reconciliation for the Covenant. Anyone interested in joining can email Mary Crickmore, mcrickmore@worldrenew.net, for the link.

South alcove gallery

Our own exhibit of MY SECRET DOUBLE is now on display in our sanctuary.  It compliments the traveling exhibit at Wheaton College but is done by our own artists from our congregation.  Come meditate on the reflections of our inner voices that no one sees but God.
