BANNER IN SANTUARY

Thank you to all who helped with the Hanging of the Greens in the sanctuary after church last Sunday. Your help is so greatly appreciated.

The art banner hanging on the back chancel wall was inspired by the art of Jan Richardson, as were the other paraments hanging on the communion table and the window. She tried to represent God's light breaking through the darkness. The back banner is much the same, with the blue and purple backdrop representing the two traditional colors of Advent depending on the church tradition. The top portion being blue also represents Heaven from where the Son and the Holy Spirit [blue and gold cloth,] come down entering into the earth of black and white. The entry part is marked by red, blood and water of birth and death, where creation begins to be made new, anticipating original colors of creation. The sun represents the Father connected and involved in it all. the bottom portion being purple represents God sovereignty over all the earth and sky.
