Philippians 1:1-11

Our journey from Lent to Easter, glimpses of God's Glory along the way.  Jesus is alive! He is risen!  and He continues to accompany us on our daily journey to our eternal home with gold glimpses of His glory along the way. The white of His resurrection seeps into the world and is beginning the process of making all things new!

The book club is starting a new book next week so its a great time to join! Our own exhibit of MY SECRET DOUBLE is now on display in our sanctuary.  It compliments the traveling exhibit at Wheaton College but is done by our own artists from our congregation.  Come meditate on the reflections of our inner voices that no one sees but God.

THE MAKER’S SPACE

Our final session in our series on "Questions?" takes place this Sunday, April 24, at 5:00-7:00pm.

We will gather 30 minutes earlier at 5:00pm because of the congregational meeting that was rescheduled.  We will meet in Munson Hall and will explore the art of Neurographica as we tackle our last question..."How much more?"  Come and consider this opportunity to bring a neighbor or a family member to learn this art form.  This is an easy invitation!  No art experience necessary!  Also, check out The Maker's Space latest workshop with the addiction clients of Haymarket Center @www.themakersspace.us  We will be learning the same technique that you will be able to use on your own to calm and reach those inner emotions.

Thank you for your help for planning purposes when you

SUPPORT “CANS FOR CHANGE” & COVENANT WORLD RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT

  • Follow CWR's Facebook page or website to learn more about their work

  • Pray for CWR, their partners, and the people they serve

  • Pickup a "Can for Change" soup can from church to collect coins for CWRD, and bring it to our Easter Sunday service

  • Go to our church's giving page to contribute, and select the "Give to Covenant World Relief and Development" fund

  • Write a check any time with "CWRD" in the memo line

  • If you already give to our "Love Offering" each month, contributions in March and April will go to CWRD

FEATURED UPDATES

JOIN OUR BURMESE SISTER CONGREGATION AS THEY CELEBRATE THEIR NEW CHURCH BUILDING THIS SUNDAY!

Back in 2014, GEECC invited a congregation of 100 Burmese believers - Bethel Senthang Baptist Church - to start worshipping at Glen Ellyn Covenant.  They have been meeting faithfully for worship in the gym every Sunday afternoon since, and their congregation has grown to nearly 300!

Last month, they purchased a lovely old church building in Villa Park.  They will worship there for the first time this Sunday, April 10, and have invited our church to join them.    Worship starts at 1pm at:

410 S Cornell Ave

Villa Park, IL 60181

We are grateful for the time we shared with BSBC at GEECC, and pray for God’s blessing on them as they start this new phase of ministry.

If you have questions, or if you want to carpool to the church on Sunday, contact Darren Miller (630-596-6486).

THE MAKERS SPACE

“Whether you realize it or not, you spend the majority of your day doing things you’ve already done hundreds or thousands of times before. Very rarely do you actually try new things for the purpose of engaging a unique experience. But what if you made it a point to do exactly that? There are many benefits to doing new things – don’t cheat yourself out of them.

Ask any highly creative person how they continue to innovate and express themselves in new ways – they’ll tell you the key to their success is a commitment to trying new things.

When you try new things, you put your brain into unique situations that force it to really think. This stimulates creativity, which eventually rubs off in other areas of your life. As a result, you begin to think about everything in a new light.”—Larry Alton, Huffpost

Fear is what keeps us from trying new things, and that is the 4th question in our series, as we look at Questions? that God poses to us to begin an intimate dialogue with us. Perhaps you find yourself in a languishing or “idling” state of mind. All 5 questions can help us move into the “what’s next” phase of our lives. For more on the Questions? series visit us @www.themakersspace.us

Here is an opportunity to try something new, all you have to do is come!

STUDENT MINISTRIES UPDATE

With joy and sadness we want to inform you that our Director of Student Ministry, Emily Maruyama has accepted a full time High School Director position at another church. Emily is graduating from college this semester and we celebrate with her as she follows God’s call on her life. We are so thankful for her time at GEECC and her wonderful work with our students. Obviously, we are also sad that she will no longer be with us, but the sadness exists because she has done such a wonderful job as our Director. Please join us in prayer for Emily as she transitions, for our students as they walk through this transition, and for our church as we prayerfully seek our next Director of Student Ministry. Emily’s last day with us will be Thursday, April 21st. We praise God for His leading in Emily’s life and for her desire to pursue a life of ministering to young people. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

Peace,

Pastor Jeff

Did you know:

"In our society, at the age of five, 90% of the population measures "high creativity." By the age of seven, the figure has dropped to 10%. And the percentage of adults with high creativity is only 2%! Our creativity is destroyed not through the use of outside force, but through criticism, innuendo..."

--Finley Eversole, in The Politics of Creativity

At The Maker’s Space, we use art as a tool to slow down and retrieve that lost creativity in order to live a more creative life, as we were created to do. This year, the new series of “Questions?” can help move you from languishing on to the “What’s Next?” Come try a new skill by engaging in art and be mindful of what is currently happening in and around you. This month, come play with CLAY! IN PERSON!

It’s free! So take some time for yourself. All supplies included but you do need to RSVP TO 2013themakersspace@gmail.com so we can prepare the clay. Come slow down and relax and try something new for your health!

MY SECRET DOUBLE ART EXHIBIT comes to Wheaton College

March 14-April 29, 2022  Marj Meade Gallery Wheaton College

"My Secret Double is an international exhibition that strives to address issues of mental health. Your secret double is the inner voice that fills you with negative thoughts, and can lead to depression, anxiety, fear and addiction. We are looking for artwork that expresses the artist’s personal journey with that secret voice, also ways in which hope may be found in the midst of that journey."

The exhibition originated in Latvia.  Depression is the #1 problem in the country of Latvia, so a group of Christian artists decided to speak to that topic and catch the attention of the public.  Now, it is traveling around the United States and other places it might be invited.  You can read more on the sponsoring ministry @www.bridgebuildersint.com

Glen Ellyn Covenant Church has our own Call to Artists and will hold a satellite exhibition on "My Secret Double"  in the South Alcove Gallery.

Submission deadline is March 27, 2022

Please join us in prayer for Emily as she transitions, for our students as they walk through this transition, and for our church as we prayerfully seek our next Director of Student Ministry. Emily’s last day with us will be Thursday, April 21st. We praise God for His leading in Emily’s life and for her desire to pursue a life of ministering to young people. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

Peace,

Pastor Jeff

Dear friends at Glen Ellyn,

We just want to express our gratitude for your generosity of heart! We received your Christmas gift and are very thankful!
