On Ash Wednesday, February 17th, we will enter the season of Lent. This season has held great significance and meaning in the life of our church. From the attention given to scripture, prayer, remembering the poor and needy, art and music, we have immersed ourselves as a community and individuals in remembering the life of Jesus and his work on the cross.
The Ministry Staff and Worship Arts Committee have created a way for us to walk through this Lenten season in our homes, and as we are separated from one another.
On Sunday, February 14th, 11:30am-12:30pm, you are invited to come to church to pick up a
LENTEN WORSHIP BAG. This is a *drive through event. The bag will contain:
· a candle – symbolizing the Light of Christ.
· a purple cloth – the color of Lent.
· a Covenant World Relief soup can label – remembering the need of others.
· a palm cross – reminding us of our own shouts of “Hosanna” followed by, “Crucify Him.”
· a card with a scripture verse and prayer
It is our desire that you would take these simple items and create a sacred space in your home,
where you can gather to meditate, participate in virtual worship, and to be mindful of Jesus. This is a communal act as much as it is personal.
*If you cannot make it to the drive through event, you may stop by the church office after Feb. 14th, during office hours to get a Lenten Worship Bag.
