What is onRAMP?
RAMP stands for Resident Assistant in Ministry Program. onRAMP is an internship at Glen Ellyn Covenant Church that offers a unique setting in which participants gain valuable ministry skills and experience in an intentional Christian living environment. We hope that it will be an “on-ramp” of sorts for individuals who are exploring a vocational call in ministry leadership. onRAMP allows interns to focus on an area of interest within the church and lead those ministries alongside seasoned ministry staff who are mentoring them and preparing them for leadership. The goal of onRAMP is to raise up leaders in the Church. We accomplish this goal by creating an environment where young leaders gain the necessary experience needed for ministry in an environment where they can process what they are learning with others who are passionate about the same things.
onRAMP interns will be provided with rent free housing. As part of the program, the interns will work 15-20 hours per week in their respective ministry area at Glen Ellyn Covenant Church. It is required that onRAMP interns attend Glen Ellyn Covenant Church throughout their internship. It is encouraged that onRAMP interns have another part-time job or are going to school.
There are two major aspects to onRAMP.
1. The Internship
During a one- or two- year commitment, onRAMP interns will work alongside a staff member to accomplish the goals and vision of GECC. Throughout the program, interns will participate in monthly leadership development meetings to discuss books, process experiences, and discern future ministry opportunities.
2. The House
The interns of onRAMP will live rent free in an intentional Christian living environment provided by GECC. The house is co-ed with both common social living spaces and private bedroom and bathroom space. Residents will agree to a behavioral covenant as well as house rules and responsibilities. The vision for this part of the program is for interns to have an intentional community in which to process their internship experience and grow in spiritual and social maturity.
