Mike Langer

Mike came to faith through the student ministries of Glen Ellyn Covenant at age seventeen. During his college and early professional years, he was heavily involved in the life of our church, using his gifts of music and proficiency in Spanish. But in July of 2004, Mike sensed that God was calling him to ministry, and our church affirmed that call. Seven years later, nearly to the day, Mike returned to us as our Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Outreach, having completed his Master of Divinity degree at North Park Theological Seminary and having served congregations in Blue Island and Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. Mike is anything but introverted and is famous for his immense repertoire of bad jokes. He is outshined by his wife, Melissa, and daughters, Nadia and Abigail.

Anne Jorgensen

Associate Pastor

Growing up attending First Covenant Church in Marinette, WI, Anne came to faith as a young child with the guidance of her family and church family. She was very involved in the church with the youth programs, performing in church plays and singing in the choir. Throughout Anne’s life, she has always felt called to love people, to serve and to lead. In college and the years following, she cultivated these goals by working in the nonprofit sector until 2010, when she went to North Park University for her Master’s in Nonprofit Administration. During that time Anne felt God also calling her into ministry in the church. Following God’s leading she entered seminary at North Park Theological Seminary in 2012 and her calling into ministry was confirmed by her professors, peers and pastoral internships. Anne graduated with her Master’s of Divinity in the summer of 2015 and was called to Glen Ellyn Covenant Church as Associate Pastor in December of 2015. Anne has an adventurous spirit and loves to go off exploring new places, new things, good food, or playing with her much beloved nephews and niece.

Jeff Root

Associate Pastor to Students

Jeff is a graduate of Wheaton College, where he played football and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics. While Jeff spent his first years after college in the world of finance, it was clear that his true passion and calling in life is for students. Jeff is outgoing and inspiring; his authentic love for Christ shines through in everything he does (even being a "game nerd"). He and his wife, Jori, both grew up in Wheaton where they now live with their beautfiul daughters, Everly and Kysa.

Leslie Hodgkinson

Director of Worship Arts

Leslie has been involved in worship arts for over 20 years within the Chicagoland area. Her greatest joy is encouraging people of every age to share their artistic, dramatic, and musical gifts and talents with the church in the context of worship. Leslie is not only a talented and seasoned musician, she is especially gifted in tying together all of the various elements of worship into a cohesive experience, one that has a clear direction without being rigid. She and her husband Don live in Chicago's North Park neighborhood and she is spotted donning her favorite red cowboy boots.

Pam Powell

Director of Children's Ministries

Pam Powell joined our staff as Director of Children’s Ministries in January 2015, having first served as a member of the children’s ministries vision team, a Sunday school teacher, VBS co-director, and a Hi League leader since coming to our church in 2012. She is especially thrilled to get to be included in a child’s spiritual growth journey because “even though you can live to be 99 before you accept Jesus and still get all the heavenly rewards, how much sweeter is life lived knowing Jesus all those years.” Pam’s joy is clearly Jesus-given and she loves getting WILD with our kids on Wednesdays or any other occasion that allows her to play with shaving cream and water balloons or wear one of her crazy hats. Pam has been married to Tom Powell since 1989. They have three young adult children, two dogs, a cat and a mostly empty fish tank. They have made their home in Wheaton since October 2011, having previously lived most of their adult lives in Michigan.

Holly Pelsor

Director of The Ark Preschool

Holly is a graduate of Benedictine University and has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 10 years. Holly came to us highly recommended with her experience as an Assistant Director and many years of teaching. Her nurturing nature, calm guidance and love for the Lord shines through and spreads to all she encounters. Holly works hard to find connections between the church and the preschool, between the two staffs, and with families from the church and school. We benefit greatly from her expertise in this important role and are blessed to have her represent our church in this position of community outreach. She and her husband Scott, who have been together since high school, live in West Chicago.

Karen Schultz

Financial and Facilities Manager

Karen joined our staff in May of 2011, bringing with her extensive experience in administrative and financial management with other non-profits in the Wheaton area. She is exceedingly patient with those staff members who are not "numbers people" and such a delight to be around. She and her husband, John, have three children and have lived in the west suburbs their whole life.
